IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (19-0, 19 KOs) is gearing up to return to the ring this Saturday night, when he defends his titles against late replacement Carlos Takam in Cardiff.

Everybody has their favorite fighter, someone who they personally view as being the best in the business. And so does Joshua.

Joshua was very impressed by what he saw last month, when Canelo officially made his move to the middleweight division to challenge WBA, IBO, WBC, IBF world champion Gennady Golovkin at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The fight ended in a controversial twelve round split draw and a rematch is being discussed for May 5th of next year.

Joshua felt Canelo was able to nullify Golovkin's ability to overwhelm his opponents with a combination of pressure and power.

"Canelo [is the best] - Canelo is my guy," Joshua told TalkSport.

"Golovkin has got explosive hands, power in both hands. He was moving out the way, taking them [punches] on the gloves. And normally they cause a lot of effect on other opponents but Canelo found a way to dismantle what he was trying to do."

Canelo has a single loss on his record, to Floyd Mayweather Jr. That contest took place in 2013, at a catch-weight of 152-pounds. Joshua believes the 27 year old boxer has made vast improvements since that contest and continues to get better with each passing training camp.

"At training, in every camp, he's added something new. In all sports, some athletes get stuck in a routine and the people around them aren't adding new routines or new structure to the training camps," Joshua said.

"Canelo has added head movement, rolling, slipping. And I saw all that come into play when he fought Khan and when he fought Golovkin. He has really improved since the Mayweather fight. He's phenomenal."
