Anthony Joshua Could Soon Enter The Free Agent Market

By Edward Chaykovsky

2012 Olympic gold medal winner Anthony Joshua is reportedly going to become one of the biggest free agents on the market. The heavyweight's UK Sport-funded "amateur" contract with GB Boxing expires at the end of the month, according to Allan Hubbard of The Idependent.

Every major UK promoter, and even Golden Boy Promotions, is looking to sign the hot prospect. Former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis has been giving the 23-year-old boxer a lot of advice.

"I've told him that the most important first step is to get people around him who are conducive to his personality and his ambitions," Lewis told the paper. "If you get that right, the money will follow. He would certainly earn more than Mike Tyson or myself."

Nigel Benn says Calzaghe hit harder than him and Lewis thinks Joshua will make more money than Tyson. Do British fighters get dementia as a retirement gift?

I don't mean to knock a future bright prospect, but from what I've seen, I think he might be a bust. Only time will tell.

Interesting move. Hopefully he doesn't end up going solo like our boy Audley.
