Veteran coach Virgil Hunter had some choice words for both Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Erislandy Lara.

In his last fight, Hunter's boxer, junior middleweight puncher Alfredo Angulo, faced Erislany Lara in June of 2013. Angulo started slow but eventually caught up to Lara, dropping the Cuban boxer twice in the contest and had him in a lot of trouble. During the ninth round, Angulo suffered an eye injury and he was unable to continue.

Canelo was outpointed over twelve last September, in a one-sided fight, by pound-for-pound great Floyd Mayweather Jr.

During today's press conference for the March 8th battle between Canelo and Angulo at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Hunter voiced his response to Canelo's constant complaints that "Mayweather ran" in their fight. And he also held nothing back with his comments about the fight with Lara.

"I think this fight is going to [be determined] by their last fights. Their last fights say a lot about each man. Each man had to execute their game plan. I have no problem saying this and they can take it back to Houston, [Angulo] had Erislandy Lara, he had him until he had an unfortunate incident when he got stuck in his eye," Hunter said.

"Young Saul, during the press conference call today, he implied that Mayweather ran from him. Well, Erislandy Lara runs pretty well too. We had to develop a strategy to cut the ring off and that's what happened and that's what we did, knocked him down twice, almost ended his career and gave him the worst beating of his Cuban career. I think that Saul should have applied the same strategy with Floyd and not complained. Nonetheless, in this particular fight there won't any running."
