Unbeaten heavyweight contender Andy Ruiz could return to the ring on August 9th, Top Rank matchmaker Brad Goodman told Boxingscene.com over the weekend.

No word yet on whom Ruiz will fight or where the fight will take place.

He will likely headline a "Solo Boxeo" telecast that evening.

Ruiz (22-0, 16 KOs) stopped Manuel Quezada in the second round of his last fight on May 17th in Fresno, CA. It was his eighth consecutive stoppage win within the last two years.

Originally from Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, Ruiz will turn 25 on September 1.

Andy Ruiz is a talented heavyweight with power and excellent handspeed. People are too focused on his weight. Ruiz is exciting to watch because he goes for the KO. I'm looking forward to his next fight. I hope they find him a meaningful opponent.
