Andy Ruiz Jr, Brad Solomon, Roman Win at Home Depot

By Rick Reeno

Home Depot Center, Carson, California - Heavyweight prospect Andy Ruiz Jr. (15-0, 9KOs) stopped Jonte Willis (8-3-1, 3KOs) in the eight and final round. Ruiz worked hard and wore Willis down until he pinned him against the ropes in the eight and unleashed a flurry of power shots to force the referee's intervention.

Welterweight contender Brad Solomon (18-0, 7KOs) made his return to the ring and won an eight round unanimous decision over Hector Munoz (10-8-1, 13KOs). Munoz went down in the second. The scores were 79-71, 77-73 and 78-72.

Super lightweight Jose Roman (14-0, 11KOs) knocked Rodolfo Armenta (11-8-1, 9KOs) out cold with a wicked counter at 1:23 of round five. Armenta was down for at least two minutes but walked out on his own.

Lightweight Eric Flores (4-1-1,1KO) won a four round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Raymond Nichol (3-1-1, 2KOs). The scores were 40-36, 40-35, 40-36.

In a battle of undefeated super lightweights, Moris Rodriguez (3-1-1, 2KOs) appeared to have the edge but fell short on the cards, losing a six round unanimous decision to KeAndre Gibson (7-0-1, 3KOs). All three judges had it 58-56.

In a featherweight contest, prospect Victor Pasillas (2-0, 1KOs) stopped Jesus Adame (2-10, 0K) in the third round of action. Adame went down in the second round and was taking a beating when the fight was stopped at 2:35 in the third.

Good stuff from Solomon. Great footwork, good handspeed but not much power. Hopefully he's back for good and stays more active.

Munoz does all that screaming and has no power behind those punches.

Solomon putting a horrible beating on Munoz to be expected but very offensive performance so far from the returning contender
