Andrew Cancio Likely Ends Rocky Juarez With Big Win

Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, Indio, California - Junior lightweight prospect Andrew “Chango” Cancio (14-1-2, 11 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over veteran Rocky Juarez (28-10-1, 20 KOs). Cancio scored a knockdown of Juarez in round one. Juarez returned fire with a knockdown in round two but Cancio came back with a knockdown in round five. Juarez couldn't take control of the fight with the younger boxer winning the rounds with better punches. The scores were 97-90, 97-90 and 98-89.

Juarez, a 2000 Olympic silver medal winner, has hit the end of the road at age 32. He suffers his sixth loss in a row and hasn't won a fight since a TKO win over Jorge Barrios in September 2008.

In the co-feature, junior middleweight prospect Hugo Centeno (14-0, 8 KOs) stopped Rahman Yusubov (8-8, 6 KOs) in four.

It's a shame Juarez never really 'made it,' but it wasn't for lack of opportunities. GBP got that guy shots like he had dirt on Oscar.
