WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (27-0, 14KOs) announced on Thursday afternoon that he would be making his return to the ring on June 20th at the Oracle in his hometown of Oakland, California against a yet to be-announced opponent. And it's believed that HBO - which employs him as a broadcaster - will not be involved in this event.
Word circulating around the industry is that Roc Nation Sports, which signed Ward to a promotional pact at the beginning of 2015, will be putting him on BET (Black Entertainment Television) - a network with whom they are believed to have entered into a time-buy agreement with.
The 31-year-old Ward last fought on November 16th of 2013, where he outpointed Edwin Rodriguez over twelve rounds. Since that fight, Ward sat on the bench while being involved in a legal battle to break away from former Goossen Promotions.
