BoxingScene.com and other members of the press caught up with unbeaten two-time champion Andre Ward (29-0, 15KOs) shortly after his unanimous decision victory over Sullivan Barrera this past Saturday night at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif.

The fight was designed to get Ward's feet wet in the light heavyweight division and set him up for a fall pay-per-view clash against WBA/WBO/IBF world champion Sergey Kovalev (29-0-1, 26KOs).

Ward, who won the Super Six tournament and unified several titles at 168-pounds, understands the importance of the Kovalev clash but hopes that the fans and media look at his whole career and not just one fight when assessing his ranking in the sport.

Ward is likely going to take another stay-busy fight to sharpen up his skills, before meeting Kovalev on a tentative date of November 19th. Kovalev's team is still involved in serious negotiations to defend his titles on a summer date in Russia.

"You hope everybody looks at your full body of work but people got short memories. I am just trying to solidify my spot at the top of the pound for pound rankings and I am trying to solidify a hall of Fame career. Those are my personal goals. I want to be a Hall of Famer one day and I want to be a multi-divisional champion and I want to see my name not #2 but God willing, #1 pound for pound one day where there are no arguments or questions," said Ward.
