It’s safe to say that the honeymoon is over for former friends Floyd Mayweather and 50 Cent.
On Friday night, both men could be seen taking to their personal Twitter accounts as they took shots at one another.
50 Cent got the ball rolling by calling Mayweather’s advisor Leonard Ellerbe a “bum” while labeling Floyd a “punk” and insisting that he has been "running" from Manny Pacquiao while adding that his fighter Yuriorks Gamboa would love to fight him.
Mayweather fired back by calling 50 Cent’s recently-launched SMS Promotions “Snakes Maneuver Slick” while also calling him a “male boxing groupie” and a “f*** boy” amongst other choice words.
Floyd and 50 Cent appeared to have a strong bond and the boxing world was abuzz a few months back when it looked like they were going to be launching TMT Promotions together, with such fighters as Gamboa, Andre Dirrell, Billy Dib, and Celestino Caballero under their banner.
The company dissolved, however, as the contracts of Gamboa, Dib, and Dirrell were shifted over to 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson.
Adding to the confusion, I ran into Dirrell today at Johnny Tocco’s Boxing Gym in Las Vegas, Nevada, as he was training diligently under the guidance of none other than Floyd Mayweather Sr.
Mayweather Sr. had been spotted at the Mayweather Boxing Club earlier in the week but if he continues working with Dirrell you have to wonder how it will affect his relationship with his son.
