Andre Berto Destroys Freddy Hernandez in One Round

By Mark Vester

At the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Andre Berto (27-0, 21KOs) destroyed Freddy Hernandez (29-2, 20KOs) in the first round after landing a crushing rightcross. Hernandez had his guard and hands up but he was caught right on the button and went down hard. He made it up but was barely able to get his senses together and the referee stopped the fight. Berto retains his WBC welterweight title. If there was ever a statement to make for a fight with WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, Berto may have made it. Berto is on the short-list of challengers being considered for Pacquiao's next fight.
He just consecutively beat Cotto, Clottey and Margarito. I'd say hes doing a decent job of clearing out 147. Mosley and Berto are the only top WWs left.
"Clearing out" 147? Kind of jumping the gun. He's only had 3…
Look. Berto went in there and did what he was spossed to do as a champion. He defended his belt against a mandatory challenger, and did it in championship calibre fashion. After the stoppage he then calls for elite fighters.…
