At the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Andre Berto (27-0, 21KOs) destroyed Freddy Hernandez (29-2, 20KOs) in the first round after landing a crushing rightcross. Hernandez had his guard and hands up but he was caught right on the button and went down hard. He made it up but was barely able to get his senses together and the referee stopped the fight. Berto retains his WBC welterweight title. If there was ever a statement to make for a fight with WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, Berto may have made it. Berto is on the short-list of challengers being considered for Pacquiao's next fight.
You act like Berto really had a choice herer. It was his mandatory and HBO put a lot of cash in his pocket for it. He DID what was expected. Now its time to step it up. He's asking for it, yet people bash him? Sillyness. This is no different than Pac fighting his "pickings" of late...

Last week Aarum was acting as though Berto is a very sound option for Pax, now after the 1st round victiry Arum is...
He just consecutively beat Cotto, Clottey and Margarito. I'd say hes doing a decent job of clearing out 147. Mosley and Berto are the only top WWs left.
"Clearing out" 147? Kind of jumping the gun. He's only had 3 fights at "147". De La Hoya (not ranked), Cotto (#1 WW...
Look. Berto went in there and did what he was spossed to do as a champion. He defended his belt against a mandatory challenger, and did it in championship calibre fashion. After the stoppage he then calls for elite fighters. What more do you want from the young man??????...
