Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer advised that former champion Amir Khan (26-3, 18KOs) will return to the ring on December 15th. The location and venue, and the opponent, has not been determined.

On July 14th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Khan was shockingly upset in four rounds by undefeated Danny Garcia (24-0, 15KOs), who unified the WBC/WBA junior welterweight titles with the victory.

Khan wanted an immediate rematch with Garcia in December, but that may or may not happen in 2012. As BoxingScene previously reported, Garcia will defend his titles in a rematch with Erik Morales on October 20th at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York .

"We'll have to see [who Amir's opponent will be]. We'll have to see what opportunities there are. There are so many exciting matchups in these weight classes. I would certainly appreciate and understand that Amir is going to want to have a rematch and I'm sure the rematch is going to happen - unless of course Erik Morales wins [in October] and then if Erik Morales wins the logically thing would be to do a third fight between those two," Schaefer told

Khan needs to return to lightweight. He's an extremely small light WW imo. He has the frame of 130.
I don't count the Peterson win given the circumstances, i thought Khan should have won. I'm one of Khans biggest critics, see my sig He is a flawed boxer, he'll never be elite, but he can have a nice career fighting good competition. Yes he might get TKO'd a few more tim...
You don't have to KO him to win. He's a six round fighter. If you know how to pressure and/or are a good boxer-puncher, you can win a decision over him. Even with roids, Peterson just isn't that impressive. But look what he did.
I don't count the Peterson win given the c...
Khan mos def isnt on the level he thinks he is especially with that pathetic thing he calls defense. Khan is a boxer who gets hit easily and there is always a chance of him being TKO'd, which makes watching him somewhat exciting. Although i will say this if the opponent is ...
Definitely calls into question all his prior bouts. And further proof that Khan is just not on the level he thinks he is. Bradley had no problems treating the roider like he was half ass.
Khan mos def isnt on the level he thinks he is especially with that pathetic thing he...
