Amir Khan (30-3, 19KOs), who just moved up to 147-pounds last year, is hinting at another move. Khan went to his social networks followers and said he was willing, immediately, to accept a fight with WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs) at a catch-weight of 155-pounds.
Khan and Cotto were recently confirmed by Showtime Sports head Stephen Espinoza as being the backup options for Floyd Mayweather Jr. - if Mayweather is unable to reach an agreement with Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
One has to wonder if Khan is actually serious or simply applying some pressure on Mayweather to make a move. Mayweather's negotiations with Pacquiao continue to play out with everyone in the dark as to which direction Floyd will take.
"Khan vs. Miguel Cotto. I'd take that fight in a heartbeat at a catch-weight [of] 155lbs for the WBC Middleweight title. Stylistically, Cotto would be a great fight for me. He's a great champion. Just imagine that fight in UK," Khan wrote.
