As Amir Khan moves forward with his December 13th showdown against Devon Alexander at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, there is much speculation over his long-term status with Golden Boy Promotions, which has promoted him for the past several years. Last year, Khan inked a deal with adviser, Al Haymon. And like many of Haymon's other clients, Khan's contractual situation with Golden Boy is murky.

Will Khan be under the GBP promotional umbrella after this upcoming fight?

"I think everything's fine," said Khan, when asked about his status with the company which has gone through major shakeups this year. "Y'know, I have my adviser, Al Haymon, who looks after me and pointed me to the right direction. Between me, Golden Boy, Oscar (De La Hoya), everything's fine. I was on the phone with Oscar yesterday, wishing me all the best for this press conference. But yeah, I think everything's going to be fine. I mean, I don't really get involved in the politics side of it."

What will be interesting is that given that Khan is a prime candidate to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. at some point in 2015 - and how fractured Mayweather's relationship with Golden Boy is in the aftermath of the resignation of it's CEO, Richard Schaefer - is how Khan sticking with GBP will affect his chances of landing this lucrative bout.

When Eric Gomez, the head matchmaker and company VP for Golden Boy was asked if Khan would be with their company after the Alexander bout and beyond, he answered simply - "Yes, he will be."
