Alvarado's Manager To Provodnikov: We Call The Shots

By Edward Chaykovsky

Mike Alvarado's manager, Henry Delgado, says his fighter will not get bullied into a fight with Ruslan Provodnikov, which HBO would like to see happen on October 19th in Alvarado's backyard of Denver. The discussions are ongoing, with Provodnikov already accepting the financial terms of the fight, but Alvarado is not satisfied with the money being offered.

“We call the shots,” Delgado told The Denver Post. “We don’t convince anybody. They convince us. (Top Rank) throws some names to me, and we figure out what’s best for Mike, what’s best for his career."

The negotiations for Alvarado-Provodnikov continue, with Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum trying to close the deal.
