By Bill "Two Scoops" Emes

WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri (20-0, 8KOs) started the year with an ESPN Friday Night Fights showcase, winning a decision over Emanuel Taylor. He made his debut on HBO in June, winning an upset split decision over heavily Ruslan Provodnikov to capture the WBO crown. And now he returns to the ring on November 22nd in Macau, when he faces superstar Manny Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38KOs) for the WBO welterweight crown on HBO Pay-Per-View.

If Algieri pulls of another shocking upset, by defeating one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world - there is only challenge left, he admits, and that's WBC/WBA welterweight and junior middleweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs) [provided he defeats Marcos Maidana on September 13].

"I'm looking to shock the world twice this year," Algieri told BoxingScene.com. "[Mayweather] is where we're looking at [after Pacquiao], of course. I don't want to look past Manny, but like you said there's no other fight [other than Mayweather] after that."
