Alfredo Angulo: They Should Have Let The Fight Go On

Saul Alvarez made a winning return to the ring as he stopped fellow Mexican Alfredo Angulo in the 10th round at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. 'Canelo', who lost a mega-fight with Floyd Mayweather last time out, had far too much ammunition for the brave but outclassed Angulo in a non-title bout.

Although Angulo was not put on the canvas, referee Tony Weeks decided to step in at 47 seconds of the 10th round as former WBC and WBA light-middleweight champion Alvarez landed a big uppercut.

Alvarez, who improved to 43-1-1, landed combinations at will on Angulo and by the middle rounds the only suspense left in the fight was whether or not Angulo (22-4) would be able to last the distance.

Although Angulo was well behind he believed he should have been given the opportunity to carry on fighting.

Angulo said: "I'm upset because they should have let the fight go on. I'm fine and I was fighting. It was 20 weeks of training, it is disappointing. I wanted to keep fighting."
In my opinion it should have been stopped a round or so fewer. We get so wrapped up in the KO we forget he has a family. A boxer just died from a brutal KO. After being a punching bag all night he is still human. Good stoppage
Thank u ! My sentiments exactly . Even Virgil H...
Mayweather Sr. wonders why Angulo wasn't hitting Canelo hard. It didn't seem like he was throwing punches back to try and hurt Canelo, Mayweather Sr. said. It just looked like he was taking punches to me. It just seemed to me like he wasn't trying to hit Canelo back hard at all. He ...

they shoulda allowed him to finish but honestly, he can't blame anybody but himself if you don't wanna get stopped, you better fight back he was asking for it by just eating up punches and not doing shit hard to feel sorry for him with his half assed effort

The only thing I have against the stoppage was that it was too late. Fight should have been stopped after the eighth. Dog was getting hit with flush punches and couldn't even see them coming. Good stoppage.
