Alexander, Malignaggi Trade Words at The Presser

By Rick Reeno

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - There were some short fireworks during Golden Boy's press conference to announce their signing of former junior welterweight champion Devon Alexander (22-1, 13KOs). In the audience was Paulie Malignaggi (29-4, 6KOs), also a former champion at 140. It didn't take long before Alexander and Malignaggi were trading words with each other.

Over the last few months, the two boxers have exchanged verbal insults on BoxingScene.com. They continued that battle during Alexander's press conference.

"I do my talking with my fists. If I fight Paulie Malignaggi, it would be a stepping stone for me. I'm at the top and his career is on the slide. I don't think HBO would be interested in that fight, but we'll fight whoever is put in front of us," Alexander said.

Malignaggi responded - "bro, you lost your last three fights. Last time I checked you didn't have a belt."
