Newly crowned EBU cruiserweight champ Mateusz Masternak, 29-0, inherited former champ Aleksander Alekseev as mandatory challenger and the EBU have set January 14 at noon as deadline for purse bids or agreement.
Alekseev. 23-2-1, was EBU champ earlier this year but was stripped of the title when due to illness he couldn´t go through with the mandatory defence against Masternak but was promised another chance at the title once he got well.
However, today, EC Box Promotion announced that Aleksander, IBF # 4, will fight a IBF eliminator for the vacant # 1 spot in the ratings against Philadelphia´s Garret Wilson, IBF # 3.
EC have set February 22 as date and have two sites in the works, Cuxhaven, Germany, or Galati, Romania.
The winner of Aleksander vs. Wilson will earn the right to challenge IBF champ Yoan Pablo Hernandez.
