WBC silver lightweight champion Alejandro Sanabria (30-1-1, 23KOs) is hungry for a shot at the full division champion, countryman Antonio DeMarco (26-2-1, 19KOs). After winning the silver belt in December, Sanabria still expects a return to the ring on January 28th. The fighter is training, but doesn't have a finalized opponent in place. DeMarco is rumored for a voluntary defense in April, but then he has to stage an ordered rematch with Jorge Linares.
"It was a very good year. Now it's going to be hard work, because I want the full title. I want to be world champion. I would like to face Antonio DeMarco. I will stay on course and continue to fight and continue to work, because that's my motto. Things happen when you work hard. My promoter told me that I'm fighting on January 28. I do not have an opponent or location, and so while I'm just preparing for that date," Sanabria said.
