The WBC's number one contender at light-welterweight, Ajose Olusegun, believes that Golden Boy’s request to delay the purse bid for his upcoming world title shot at titleholder Danny Garcia is a ploy to avoid making the fight.

The Nigerian, 32, have been patiently awaiting his opportunity to fight for the title since dominant victory over Ali Chebah in September last year and is not ready to step aside as Garcia is continually linked to separate bouts.

“The purse bid was moved from yesterday and postponed until June 1st on Golden Boy's request,” Olusegun explained to World Boxing News.

“I think everyone knows that it is obvious that they are doing their best to avoid me, but it won't work. I am fighting for the title, whether they like it or not.

“Two weeks is only just around the corner and Garcia can run, but he can’t hide.”

24 year-old Garcia had been negotiating a clash with Amir Khan for the summer, but as the Bolton fighter has not been handed his WBA and IBF belts back following the Peterson controversy, Garcia is unwilling to put his title on the line.
