Colombian referee Uriel Aguilera, member of the International Officials Committee of the World Boxing Association, will participate in the film of the life of Roberto Duran, Hands of Stone being filmed in Panama.
Aguilera will play the part of Ernesto Magaña, Mexican referee who participated in Duran’s fight the American Davey Moore that took place at the Madison Square Garden, New York on June 16, 1983. Duran won by TKO 8.
Aguilera has been member of the WBA Officials’ committee for more than 20 years, and has participated in 87 title bouts, 62 as judge and 25 as referee.
Venezuelan Edgar Ramirez plays the role of Duran in the film. The singer Usher, Robert de Niro, and Rubén Blades, among other great figures wills also taking part in it. The film is expected to be in theaters next year.Tags: boxing
