Usually the members of the Nevada State Athletic Commission rotate duties as chairman, a role that lasts for one year. That has changed with the unanimous reelection of Francisco V. Aguilar on Monday morning to a second consecutive term.

Commissioners noted that Aguilar devoted a significant portion of his first term to the search for a new executive director to replace Keith Kizer, who stepped down in January. Bob Bennett was hired as executive director in April and started about a month later.

This additional year will allow Aguilar to lead the commission through the budgetary process and legislative cycle, other commissioners said.

His second term will conclude in October 2015.
