Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer advised BoxingScene.com that undefeated super featherweight contender Adrien Broner (21-0, 17KOs) will still fight on the HBO televised date of November 26th in Cincinnati. Originally, Broner was scheduled to face WBO champion Ricky Burns (39-2, 9KOs) - but the Scottish boxer vacated his title and plans to face Michael Katsidis in a WBO interim-lightweight title bout on November 11th.
There has been some discussion about Broner facing another Golden Boy promoted boxer, Eloy Perez (22-0, 6KOs), but there may not be enough money on the table to make that fight happen. Perez's team is reportedly asking for a sizable sum.
"Adrien Broner will still fight on November 26 for the vacant WBO title. I'm speaking with [WBO President] Paco [Valcarcel] to find out who they would approve [to fight Broner for the title]," Schaefer told BoxingScene.com.
