Adrian Estrella Extended Twelve, Outlasts Dante Jardon

By Jake Donovan

Rising contender Adrian Estrella was forced to go to the scorecards for the first time in his career, but remained unbeaten with a 12-round decision over Dante 'Crazy' Jardon at Domo Care in Guadalupe, Neuvo Leon, Mexico.

Scores were 119-109 across the board for Estrella, who had only fought beyond six rounds just once prior to Saturday's crossroads out.

Estrella (18-0, 17KOs) knew heading in that he was taking on the toughest challenge of his young career. The deepest he has previously been forced to go is when he stopped Arturo Camargo in nine rounds last April.

Jardon (24-5, 20KOs), who was coming off of a failed title bid versus Takashi Miura last December, never quit over the course of 12 rounds. The veteran brawler was often beaten to the the punch, but also made Estrella work every step of the way and made his presence felt even in defeat.

Anxious moments came late in the fight when Estrella was forced to fight through a bloody nose. The wound hardly bothered the young knockout artist, not any more so that the grit and determination of his more experienced challenger.

With the win, Estrella will now be groomed for his own crack at defending champ Miura.

The bout aired via one hour tape delay on WBCBoxing.tv and Mexico Televisa.
