Adonis Stevenson Says Bute vs. Pascal is a 50-50 Fight

Newly crowned WBC light heavyweight king Adonis Stevenson credits his current trainer Javan Hill and his former trainer, the late Emmanuel Stewart, for helping him become a world champion.  Stevenson spoke to us on BoxingScene Radio about the training he receives in the legendary Kronk Gym.

"I have a good trainer in (Javan) 'Sugar' Hill and before that Emmanuel Stewart. He liked power punchers and he trained me to give me really good footwork and technique," Stevenson stated.

On May 25th former champions Lucian Bute and Jean Pascal were scheduled to square off in what many felt would be the biggest fight in Canadian boxing. The fight between the two Montreal based fighters was postponed when Bute suffered an injury in his training camp. The fight will likely be rescheduled to a December or January date.  Stevenson also resides in Montreal and sees the fight as being close to a 50-50 fight.

"The fight will be very close I think. Bute is a very good technical boxer. Pascal is also a good boxer. Its a huge fight in Montreal with two Canadian boxers. I can't wait to see it whenever it hapens," said Stevenson.

As for Stevenson's future plans, he said that he has no problem with facing his mandatory challenger and hopes to unify at least two titles by the end of next year.

"I want to unify the title with the IBF, the WBA. That's what I want. I have my mandatory to fight and I will give him a chance but first of all I want to unify then in 2014 get one or two more titles," Stevenson told BoxingScene Radio.
