Adonis Stevenson To Replace Dirrell in WBC Title Fight?
By Osman Rodriguez
As reported last Friday on BoxingScene.com, super middleweight contender Anthony Dirrell was involved in a motorcycle accident and suffered injuries that will keep him out of the ring for six months.
Prior to the accident, the WBC ordered Dirrell (24-0, 21KOs) to face Nikola Sjekloca (24-0, 7KOs) for the vacant WBC super middleweight world championship.
With Dirrell out, the WBC is likely to appoint another boxer to face Sjekloca.
Stevenson, without a scheduled fight, is stationed at number #3 in the WBC's rankings. There is already talk that Stevenson's promoter, Yvon Michel, is going to inquire about Stevenson being approved for the title fight.
Stevenson already beat Rodriguez in the amateurs and team Rodriguez want no part of Stevenson.Comment by kebark on 05-15-2012
would rather see edwin rodriguez get the opportunity instead of stevenson
I don't care too much which of them gets the chance but Rodriguez v Stevenson is a fight I'd certainly like to see get made.Comment by etradervic on 05-15-2012
