Main Events CEO Kathy Duva has advised BoxingScene.com that both Tomasz Adamek (45-2, 28KOs) and Eddie Chambers (36-2, 18KOs) have signed contracts to fight each other on June 16th at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The heavyweight fight will be televised by the NBC Sports Network as part of their Fight Night series.

"Contracts were both signed this afternoon. The fight is on," Duva informed BoxingScene.com.

Chambers returns from a legthly layoff due to several injuries. He was scheduled to fight Tony Thompson in an IBF eliminator last October but withdrew with a lower back injury. He was then scheduled to face Sergei Liakhovich on January 21, and withdrew from that fight with two fractured ribs.

He last fought in February 2011, winning a twelve round decision over Derric Rossy.

Adamek has certainly been the more active of the two. He won a twelve round decision over Kevin McBride in April 2011, and then returned in September to suffer a tenth round TKO loss to WBC champion Vitali Klitschko. He took a few months off and came back last month to win a lopsided ten round decision over Nagy Aguilera.

Good fight. The heavyweight division needs more these type of contender vs contender matches. Otherwise we won't truly be able to evaluate the division's overall worth outside the Klitschko brothers.
If Chambers is sharp, and isn't badly affected by the layoff, I say he wins a clear UD. I'm sorry, but Adamek is too slow, his balance is atrocious at HW, his accuracy isn't as good, and his power is lacking. He is a natural CW. Although Eddie himself is a small heavyweight, he's ...

I'm sorry, but if Adamek couldn't stop McBride, Aguilera, Estrada, or Grant, he's not stopping Chambers. Adamek has shown little to no power at HW. And while Chambers could make CW, as I said in my previous post, Chambers has fought his entire pro career at HW, while Adamek started his career as ...

This is going to be good.
If Chambers has fully recovered from his injury problems he'll stop Adamek on his feet late on.
adamek is tough as nails, always in good shape, and a craftsman for his part. if he gets stopped it will have to be a hellish fight he's not going quietly. ed...
