Tomasz Adamek doesn’t have an opponent yet, but the Polish heavyweight contender is expected to fight again Sept. 8th at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

A rematch against Eddie Chambers seems highly unlikely, despite that Chambers competed for 11-plus rounds essentially with one arm Saturday night at Prudential Center. Adamek (46-2, 28 KOs) won their 12-round bout by unanimous decision (116-112, 116-112, 119-109), but Philadelphia’s Chambers (36-3, 18 KOs) said after his disappointing defeat that the fight would’ve been “extraordinarily one-sided” if he had full use of both arms.

Chambers added that he would only meet Adamek again if the fight was staged somewhere other than Prudential Center, which would eliminate him as Adamek’s next opponent even if Adamek’s promoters wanted to make Adamek-Chambers II.

Kevin Johnson (28-2-1, 13 KOs) is considered a possible opponent for a likely independent pay-per-view main event against Adamek on Sept. 8.

The 32-year-old Johnson, a native of Asbury Park, N.J., was seriously considered for the Adamek fight that eventually went to Chambers. He lost to Tor Hamer (18-1, 11 KOs) in the three-round “Prizefighter” heavyweight tournament final Wednesday in London, but that might not adversely affect his chances of landing the Adamek fight.

“I’ll fight anybody,” Adamek, 35, said after defeating Chambers. “I’m a fighter. That’s a question for my promoter. … I can fight with anybody, because I’m a warrior. This is my job.”

Main Events’ Kathy Duva and Ziggy Rozalski, Adamek’s co-promoters, would eventually like to get Adamek in the ring against WBA title-holder Alexander Povetkin, but that fight is unlikely to happen in 2012.

The Russian-born Povetkin (24-0, 16 KOs) will make a mandatory defense against former undisputed champion Hasim Rahman (50-7-2, 41 KOs, 1 NC) on July 14. If Povetkin wins, his handlers plan to bring him back to the ring Oct. 27, against an undetermined opponent. Dereck Chiosra could secure his second title shot, this time against Povetkin, if Chisora (15-3, 9 KOs) also defeats fellow Brit David Haye (25-2, 23 KOs) in their grudge match July 14 in London.
