Junior flyweight champion Ulises "Archie" Solis is hoping to return to the ring in the month of June. Solis is waiting to receive medical approval. Last October in Guadalajara, Solis alleges that WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez attacked him over an ex-girlfriend. Solis suffered a badly broken jaw, a few bruises and several of his teeth were knocked out. A planned defense in December was cancelled. Solis had plates inserted into his jaw.

"I'm champion in recess and the circumstances as to why that happened [with my championship status] is known by everybody. When I return, I hope to fight the winner of Lazarte and Casimero, so I can confirm who the real champion is," Solis said.

Regarding the legal case pertaining to the alleged attack by Canelo, the preliminary investigation is finished and Solis hopes to resolve the matter in the near future.

"They are protecting Canelo and I don't really like how things are going. I have been approached by [Canelo's] lawyers, but they don't want to pay anything. They want everything to go away. The only thing they want to pay for are the medical expenses, but not compensate me [for not being able to fight]," Solis said.
