| Abril vs Bogere in Talks For WBA Title Clash on Oct. 13

By Rick Reeno There are ongoing discussions to finalize a lightweight encounter between unbeaten Sharif Bogere (23-0, 15KOs) and Cuban fighter Richard Abril (17-3-1, 8KOs), with the vacant WBA title at stake. If a deal comes together, the match would become the Showtime televised opener for Golden Boy's card on October 13th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. WBC super bantamweight champion Abner Mares is also scheduled to see action on the show. Abril was initially positioned to face Gavin Rees in a UK encounter in the fall, but BoxingScene was told the deal was never fully finalized and later fell apart. Abril wins this in a wide decision.....call Abril the Octopus man. His height, reach, and arms everywhere will be too much for Bogere to solve. |

isn't donaire/nishioka & rios/alvarado going down oct. 13th? gbp trying to make another card on the same date as top rank's? that's some bullsit. getting tired of de la hoya and schafer doing crap like this.
good fight though, abril deserves to have his next bout be a title fight. i hope he doesn... |

I was hoping Broner would fight Bogere on October 6th. But this is a good fight. What happened to Abril vs. Rees???
Maybe Broner can fight Rees now. |
