| Abraham-Wilczewski vs Kessler-Stieglitz: Winners in Play
|
|
By Alexey Sukachev According to several Polish sources - the rumored fight is now official. As we previously reported, super middleweight Piotr Wilczewski (30-2, 10 KOs) will challenge Arthur Abraham (33-3, 27 KOs) for the WBO's European title. WBO #2 and WBA/IBF #4 Abraham, who stopped Pablo Oscar Natalio Farias in January, will fight next in Kiel, Germany, on March 31. The winner of Abraham-Wilczewski will take on the winner of the April 14th WBO championship showdown between reigning titleholder Robert Stieglitz (41-2, 23 KOs) and Denmark’s Mikkel Kessler (44-2, 33 KOs). Rising Polish cruiserweight star Mateusz Masternak (25-0, 19 KOs), who has recently been signed by Sauerland Event, will be featured on the undercard. I want to see Kessler fight Bute. That's more of an attractive matchup than Bute vs. Froch.
If he takes the easy way out against Arthur Abraham (or Wilczewski) he is going to get criticized. And rightly so. |

Sounds like a reach. Speculation at best. Why would Sauerland pit his two biggest drawingcards if he can easily avoid it?
If both wins, then have AA going after Magee, Balszay/Sartison. Kessler Can go for Ward, Bute or Froch. |

Would've preferred to see Kessler go for Bute or Froch instead of this, especially as it seems like injury may mean him not having that many fights left anyway. |
