Arthur Abraham (36-4, 28KOs) continues to climb the WBO's ranking as he tries to land a mandatory position to face Robert Stieglitz (45-3, 26KOs). Abraham won a twelve round decision over Stieglitz last year to capture the WBO's title at 168-pounds. Earlier this year, Stieglitz reclaimed the belt with a fourth round TKO after Abraham's eye was swollen shut, and the ringside doctor would not allow him to continue. Now Abraham and his team are making moves to force a trilogy meeting.
"This is my greatest desire. On Monday we go to Budapest, where the meeting will take place with the WBO. At the time of this meeting, my managers will request that I be made the mandatory challenger to the world champion. If the participants at the meeting recognize me as the number one contender to the world champion, then I would get the right to compete with Robert Stieglitz for the world title. I do not know how WBO will rule on this request," Abraham said.
