Abner Cotto To Face Montiel on Khan vs. Garcia Card

By Jhonny Gonzalez

According to sources, undefeated lightweight contender Abner Cotto (13-0, 5KOs) will face Mexico's Juan Montiel (5-5-3, 2KOs) on the Amir Khan-Danny Garcia undercard on July 14th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Montiel is better than his record would indicate. He lost a close split decision to Anthony Crolla in September and one fight prior to that he fought to a draw with unbeaten 14-0 Carlos Molina.

There is also some talk of Cotto returning on the September 15th undercard at the MGM Grand, which features WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in the main event.
