Abner Cotto Eyes Miguel Vazquez Title Shot in 2013

By "Mr. Boxing" Giancarlo Oquendo

Puerto Rican lightweight contender Abner "Pin" Cotto (15-0-6 KO's) is facing a virtual unknown in Sergio Perez on Saturday night in Caguas, but ensures that his opponent will not score an upset.

"I'll beat him. He was at one time ranked at number 3 by the WBO, but we'll have a challenge tomorrow and I will overcome it, Cotto said. "We will be more active, moving a lot more than I did in my last fight and letting my hands go as we usually do," said Cotto.

Cotto seeing a possible clash against IBF champion Miguel "Puppet" Vazquez (33-3-13 KO's) of Mexico in 2013.

"I hope that 2013 is the year of Abner" Pin "Cotto and I hope to get a title shot and continue representing Puerto Rico as we have done so far," said Cotto to mrboxingtab.com/boxingscene.com. "We have watched Vazquez and I believe he is a good champion [for me] to capture a title."
