A decision should be coming soon with respect to the next opponent for Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (44-1-1, 32KOs). According to coach Jose 'Chepo' Reynoso, who is the head of Canelo's team, a meeting is being targeted for next week with the directors of Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar de la Hoya and Eric Gomez, to discuss potential rivals for a planned return in December.

A number of opponents have been mentioned for December, with James Kirkland as the reported frontrunner, but Chepo says things won't become clear until the meeting happens.

"The truth is, until we are there [in California] we won't know [who we're fighting]. The good thing is that there are a number of candidates, but now we can not say if it's going to be this or that opponent. We need a group meeting to discuss the opponent, location, the weight for the fight - and next week we will have more certainty," said Chepo.
