WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia (28-0, 16KOs) is not concerned with the members of the media who are dissatisfied with his upcoming opponent, huge underdog Rod Salka (19-3, 3KOs). The Showtime televised fight is scheduled for this Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Originally the fight was scheduled to be a title fight, but neither the WBC or the WBA were willing to sanction the contest, because Salka, who is moving up from 135-pounds, is unranked at junior welterweight.
"That’s the media’s problem. At the end of the day, he’s got two hands, I’ve got two hands and we’re going to fight. It’s a fight. It doesn’t matter who he is. He’s got two hands, I’ve got two hands and it’s going to be a fight. It doesn’t matter who they put in there. It’s going to be an excellent performance August 9, two guys going in there and giving their all and it’s going to be a great fight," Garcia said.
