Unbeaten Scottish heavyweight, Gary Cornish 18-0 (10) will have his first serious test at domestic level when he faces former Commonwealth champion and two-time British title challenger Sam Sexton 19-3 (7) in Glasgow with a date still to be confirmed.

The bout, which will be a British title final eliminator, was confirmed by Cornish on his Facebook account when he wrote “Yessssss it’s on me vs Sexton will be in Glasgow just few things to sort out for date but will be soon. Delighted to be fighting in Scotland cannot wait come on. Loads interest in this fight. Should be a cracking fight. Final eliminator for British title. Team Cornish will be ready.”

Cornish, 27, has yet to go further than eight rounds in his professional career which began in 2011. This just a year after Sexton had took former world title challenger Dereck Chisora nine rounds before being stopped by the Londoner.

Chisora will be fighting for the vacant British title in a rematch against Tyson Fury on Jul 26 in Manchester, a contest that will also have Chisora’s European title on the line.

For 29-year-old Sexton a date with Cornish should hold no fears having shared the ring with the likes of Chisora (twice), David Price and former Prizefighter winner, Martin Rogan.
