The big stars are lining up to support The Stroke Association this year thanks to Precision Sports Management and Wraith Promotions.

Fighter George Groves attended an event at Grosvenor Casino just prior to his re-match being announced against Carl Froch at Wembley and fundraising went towards the charity.

Now former champion Joe Calzaghe is to attend a sporting dinner at the Lancastrian Suite in Dunston on Friday April 4th to raise further awareness for the charity.

Promoter Steve Wraith is naturally delighted: ” Joe is a boxing legend and never lost a fight. He has never appeared on the dinner circuit in Gateshead so it’s nice to get him first. Groves made his after-dinner debut in Newcastle and was a natural. It’s nice to be able to give boxing fans the opportunity to meet their heroes whilst raising money for such a good cause.”

Danny Mitchell, Community and Events Fundraising Manager for the Stroke Association said: “We rely on people like Joe Calzaghe and Steve Wraith to help us change lives. The money raised through the event will help our work to prevent strokes and reduce their effect through campaigning, education and research. Their fundraising will also help us to support people adjusting to a life after stroke in the North East.”

Tickets for the event start at £25 and are available from www.wraithpromotions.com
