After having spent the holidays in his hometown of Culiacán, former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chávez Jr. (47-1-1, 32KOs) is moving to California where he will continue training in Santa Monica, under the supervision of his team headed by coach Vladimir Baldenebro.

A deal is practically wrapped up fro Chavez to face Bryan Vera (23-7) in a rematch of last September's fight, which took place at a catch-weight of 173-pounds after Chavez was unable to make the super middleweight limit.

Many observers saw Vera as the decision winner, but all three judges sided with Chavez, and the public began to push the demand for a rematch. The second helping will take place on March 1 in Texas.

“My return fight is almost finalized, and for the time being I’m fully focused on training to face Vera in Texas,” Julio said.

“The people want me to face Vera. We are going to be on his turf, but I’m sure that I will also have the support of the fans. Our last fight was odd, as we fought at 173 pounds because I had been out of action for a long time. But this time things will be different and will be a great fight for the fans. 2014 is my year! I will improve my boxing and I’ll turn into one of the best boxers in the world. That’s my goal."
