Former champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (22-0, 16KOs) has avoided reporters since Tuesday's shocking investigation by the Miami New Times. The paper penned a revealing article about an anti-aging clinic in Miami and disclosed the names of several well known athletes who were clients of the clinic.

Gamboa, an Olympic gold medal winner, was one the athletes named. Gamboa was allegedly supplied with performance enhancing drugs from the Biogenesis clinic and company head Anthony Bosch. The scandal has gained national attention due to high profile athletes who were named in the investigation.

“In the 2009 notebook, Bosch outlines an extensive program he was shipping to Gamboa. In addition to protein powders and calcium/magnesium/zinc compounds, he included a six-day-a-week HGH regime, IGF-1, and a cream with 20 percent testosterone,” the article said.

“What's more, Bosch even notes that Gamboa's next bout is scheduled against Brandon Rios the following April and writes, ‘Start clean-up Dec. 1’ — presumably giving the boxer enough time to pass doping tests. (The fight against Rios was later canceled, but Gamboa won two other fights by TKO and KO that January and February.),” the article said.

[It should be noted that those Gamboa wins were actually in early 2009, not in 2012, when Gamboa-Rios would have been taking place.]

Gamboa has refused to discuss the subject, but the he plans to publicly address the allegations very shortly.

The boxer's attorney, Tony Gonzalez, briefly discussed the situation.

"I can not comment yet and we are considering what course of action to take. But I can say that I've been very close to Yuriorkis since he arrived to this country and began his professional career, and I have no knowledge of this man [Bosch]. I've never met him," Gonzalez stated.

A source close to Gamboa told George Ebro - "Yuriorkis went to the clinic for nutritional support and at no time was [his counseling] related to steroids. Everybody knows he loves weight training. The body that he has is from genetics and hard work. There is nothing strange"
