Shane Cameron has been offered $250,000 to step into the ring with David Tua again.

Tua retired from boxing following his loss to Monte Barrett in August last year but is now planning a comeback and his promoter, David Higgins, says Cameron is first in line to fight the former world heavyweight contender.

The last time the two met in the ring – in October 2009 – Tua knocked Cameron out in the second round, in what was billed as the “Fight of the Century”.

“I personally won’t waste much time chasing Shane Cameron,” Higgins told Fairfax.

“But I think he [Cameron] is on record as saying he wouldn’t mind another shot at Tua. Well I can confirm that David would take the fight in an instant if Shane is serious about wanting another opportunity.”

Cameron’s manager Ken Reinsfield said he had not been approached directly about the offer and called it “bizarre” to hear about it through the media.

“I am not interested in making comment on an offer brought through the media”, he said.

Cameron has fought seven times since losing to Tua, winning six of the bouts.
