Editor's Note: Erdei's adviser, Greg Leon, has informed BoxingScene.com that Erdei is NOT planning to retire from boxing and the reports circulating in Hungary are not accurate. Erdei is scheduled to resume training in a few weeks, says Leon.

According to Hungarian outlet monokli, former WBO light heavyweight and WBC cruiserweight champ Zsolt Erdei has announced his retirement. Erdei, 38-years-old, goes out undefeated at 33-0 and stopped Byron Mitchell in his last outing. Zsolt was then to fight Isaac Chilemba on September 29 but was forced to withdraw with an injury - and it wasn't the first time he withdrew from a fight due to an injury - and he has called it a day.

Erdei was a big star in the amateurs and turned pro with Germany's Universum in 2000. He became WBO light heavyweight champ in 2004 with a points win over Julio Gonzales but then he was a very lucky man - especially the second time - to get past Argentinian Hugo Hernan Garay twice.

Erdei, a class act inside and outside of the ring, never became a big star in Germany and when the contract with Universum expired in 2010 - Zsolt left for the United States and signed a contract with DiBella Entertainment but was never able to get a major fight - mainly due to injuries.
