WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley would have everything to lose, and nothing to gain, by moving forward with a December 15th HBO televised fight with Robert Guerrero - according to Bradley's trainer Joel Diaz.

Diaz doesn't expect Bradley to get any credit in beating Guerrero - because the Gilroy native recently moved up to the welterweight division after fighting last at 135-pounds. He also views Guerrero as a lower tier opponent and doesn't see the point in giving him the opportunity. He wants Bradley to receive another big opportunity after winning a controversial decision over Manny Pacquiao in June.

“It’s not a fight for Tim, it’s a fight for Robert,” Diaz said to The Desert Sun. “Instead of moving forward after being on that stage a couple months ago, we’re taking a step back fighting Robert Guerrero. Robert Guerrero is not at the level of those guys —of Floyd (Mayweather), Cotto, Pacquiao. He’s not. So now, we’re giving the opportunity to Robert. To us, it’s not an opportunity. It’s another fight, just to stay busy.”

“To us, it’s a no-win situation. Timothy will beat Robert Guerrero on his worst day. If he beats him, he didn’t do anything. He won’t get any credit, because Robert Guerrero was a 130-pounder. We’re fighting at 147. If we get beat, ‘Come on, you got beat by a guy like that?’ It’s a no-win situation for us.”
