Boxing, which is not a sport of short cuts, occassionally does gel with some hair raising tales, to rival the "Last of the Mohicans."

Daniel Ponce De Leon's upcoming fight against Miguel "Mickey" Roman for the vacant WBC super featherweight International Silver belt, on June 7th at the 25,000 capacity Estadio de baseball in Cuauhtemoc, will hardly be a snip. But, Daniel's so confident of victory, that....... he says that in the extremely unlikely event that he loses, Mickey can cut off his famed ponytail!

It's a bald fact that neither fighter splits hairs, when a KO presents iteself. Daniel's stopped 35, and Mickey's batting average in this is just one less. We've been combing the record books for a similar ponytail dare, but only came up with the sage William Makepeace Thackeray poem.

It will indeed be make or break time for Daniel. Oswaldo Kuchle of Promociones de Pueblo says that if Daniel wins, then a rematch with WBC featherweight king Jhonny Gonzalez, who he already defeated one divison down at featherweight, is a good possibility. But if he loses and fluffs it, then it might very well be Jorge "Travieso" Arce who'll fight Jhonny.

So Daniel who wants to remain a big wig is determined it won't be "hair today...gone tomorrow."
