WBC interim-junior welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse (33-2, 31KOs) has no issue with facing his Argentine countryman, Marcos Maidana (33-3, 30KOs). Matthysse-Maidana is a match that interests the big television networks like HBO and Showtime, and the top executives at Golden Boy Promotions are very interested in making the fight happen.

While Matthysse has interest in the fight, his main goal is to secure a fight with WBC full champion Danny Garcia (25-0, 16KOs), who defends his title on April 27th against former champ Zab Judah at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

"I'll fight [Maidana] whenever he wants. I have no problem with fighting anybody, but I want to fight Danny Garcia because I want to become the full champion. I don't think Maidana will agree to a fight because he's a welterweight and I'm not going to move up in weight. I've asked [Golden Boy President] Oscar De La Hoya to get me the fight with Danny Garcia," Matthysse said.
