Top lightweight contender Jose "Chelo" Gonzalez (21-0, 16 KO's), who on February 2 will defend his WBO Latino belt against an opponent to be determined in Bayamon, is not going to stand down while lightweight champions Ricky Burns and Adrien Broner are circling to face each other in a unification fight.

"I am calm and God willing my time will come. They're both looking for better purses and I understand that but [Burns] must also understand that I am the number one contender and I'm the mandatory, but we trust in God that everything goes well and we seize this opportunity and I become a world champion," Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez respects the ability of Broner, but he also feels the WBC lighteweight champ is trying to copy look and style of Floyd Mayweather Jr.

"He's young and he is a great fighter but I'm a fighter who has my own style and I do not imitate anyone. For me, [Broner] is a copycat who is imitating people. I have my own style. It might be a little messy but it's my style. I'm original and the day that I face [Broner] I will put on a great fight and I'm going to win because I have no fear of Broner or Burns or any of the current champions. I'm are here to fight and I know they are elite fighters and I want to test myself against any of them because I am also an elite fighter and I want the opportunity to demonstrate the talent that I have," said Gonzalez.
