Unbeaten heavyweight David Price (15-0, 13KOs) is not rushing for a fight with champion Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko. The Olympic bronze medal winner is working hard to sharpen his skills as he prepares to face former world title challenger Tony Thompson on February 23.

Price, who scored very quick knockouts over his recent run of opponents, is hoping Thompson hangs in there for a few rounds. Price wants to continue growing in 2013 before pursuing a major title shot in 2014.

"I've not really had time to show the improvements I've been making as a boxer because the fights have been so short, especially in my last two fights," Price told the Liverpool Echo.

"It is in the sparring that I know improvements are being made but the fights will come where I will start to show them. By the end of next year, I hope we are at least talking about me having won a European title," he said. "Possibly even me having fought in a world title eliminator.

"Should I come through the fight with Tony Thompson then my world ranking should go right up. My shot will come and every fight is massive for me next year and my philosophy has to be that every fight is my world title fight."
