Middleweight contender Danny "The Golden Child" Jacobs plans on being very active in his return to the ring which begins at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on October 20th. Jacobs has fully recovered from a life threatening bout with cancer and has been inactive since March 5th, 2011. On a recent appearance on The Boxing Lab, Boxingscene's official audio show, Jacobs said that he is 100% healthy.

"Everything is back to normal. My cancer is gone. My nerves are fine. I have been training for six months so I am ready to go. I am so excited to get back in the ring."

Jacobs lone loss came against WBO middleweight champion Dmitry Pirog in July, 2010.  Jacobs is still only 25 years-old and said that he isn't in a rush to get back in the high profile fights and plans on being very active as he works his way back to the top.

"I am going to take my time. I am going to go back to fighting once a month. I have a good team around me with Al Haymon and Golden Boy Promotions. I am going to fight the right opponents and not overstep my bounds," Jacobs explained.

When Jacobs last fought, the middleweight was seen as being barren of star power. That has changed over the past few months and it is now one of boxing's hottest divisions.  Jacobs said that he is very excited at the future possibilities.

"The division is hot. I picture myself with a Martinez or Chavez down the line. Once I am ready there will be a lot of options."

The Brooklyn, Ny native finished our interview on The Boxing Lab with a message for all the fans that have stuck by his side through his battle with cancer.

"I want to thank the fans for their kind words and support over this past year and half as I went through my trials. The support I received was really a key to my recovery. I'm glad they stuck by my side. We are going to make history. Whether I win a world title or not, even though I know I will, we will make history and it starts on October 20th," stated Jacobs.
