MGM Grand at Foxwoods Resort, Mashantucket, Connecticut - Veteran Vic Darchinyan (38-5-1, 27KOs) puts his career back on track with a ten round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Orlando Del Valle (16-1, 11KOs) of Puerto Rico to capture the NABF super bantamweight title. The scores were 99-91, 99-91 and 96-94.

In the first they were feeling each other out, but in the second Del Valle started unloading with a good overhand right. Darchinyan was really making it a rough fight in the third, pushing Del Valle around, landing hard counters and at times he was using his head often as well. By the eight round, it was all Darchinyan who was pasting the young prospect with hard punches to the head and body. But then in the ninth, Del Valle rocked Darchinyan and started working him over. Darchinyan was able to hang on until the bell. Del Valle pushed the pace in the tenth, but it was too little, too late.
