WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26KOs) spoke to BoxingScene.com and a select group of writers at the Mayweather Gym in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mayweather discussed the issues that are delaying the finalization of a mega-fight with WBO champion Manny Pacquiao for May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

BoxingScene.com: Mayweather's comments regarding his demand for Manny Pacquiao to subject himself to a random drug testing protocol.

Mayweather: I never said one guy has to take the tests. I said everybody before and after Manny Pacquiao has to take the random blood and urine tests, because there is so much cheating going on in sports today. And me being the best in boxing, if you're the best take the test. Everybody is saying its me. It's not me at all. The media and the world can now see.

None of my other opponents had a problem with taking the tests and I don't have a problem with taking the random blood and urine tests. I want to prove that I'm a clean athlete. When they open up the history books, I want them to say that Floyd Mayweather was a clean athlete.

The fans wonder why we want the drug testing. If you look at the history of fighters. There are fighters who can barely talk, barely walk, and don't know their left from their right. My health is more important to me. I know I'm going to make tons and tons of money, but my health is more important to me. If I get hurt in the ring and that fighter didn't take the random tests, I won't know how to spend my money. I won't even know whats going on.

BoxingScene.com: How would a fight between you and Manny Pacquiao play out?

Mayweather: He's pressure fighter but there are a lot of mistakes that he makes and you can't make those mistakes with Floyd Mayweather. If you make those mistakes, you have to pay. It's not that he hasn't earned the right to face Floyd Mayweather. It's just crazy that a guy can pop up out of nowhere and become such an amazing fighter, when a guy like me has been doing it since the 90s and dominating the sport and beating the best out there. And then a guy pops up out of nowhere and says he's on the level of a Floyd Mayweather when I've been dominating for almost 20 years now.

BoxingScene.com: Would you say Manny Pacquiao is the best out there, besides yourself?

Mayweather: I can't say that [for sure]. There are a lot of good strong champions out there. Speaking honestly, I thought [Juan Manuel] Marquez won the last fight easily. If you look at a fight on mute and just look at it. A guy is getting outboxed real easy. One guy is keeping the pressure on but not landing anything. One guy is not taking any punishment and landing almost at will.

BoxingScene.com: What will it take to make the fight happen?

Mayweather: The last I guy I fought was a southpaw [Victor Ortiz], preparing me for May 5th. May 5th was a date we picked out a long time ago. Right after Ortiz we said May 5th is set for Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. And now it's excuses after excuses. First they said I was scared. There are two things that I'm not, I'm not a loser and I'm not a cheater. The only thing I ask is to be treated fair. Like I've said before, I'm ready. I have my guarantee, I'm ready.

I'm ready to make the fight. I hear that Manny Pacquiao wants to fight. So the only holdup right now is Bob Arum. Right now I'm saying it's a go. May 5th is a go. Right now it's Mayweather vs...... All Bob Arum has to say is - 'it's a go' - and then it's Mayweather vs. Pacquiao on May 5th.

BoxingScene.com: Is there any fighter out there who you feel is a bigger challenge than Pacquiao?

Mayweather: I don't think there is no fighter who is really a challenge to me, because I feel that I have the remedy. Like I've said before on 24/7 - you have certain individuals who are talented and you have some individuals who are God gifted. I'm one of the individuals who is God gifted.

BoxingScene.com: Comparing Victor Ortiz and Manny Pacquiao as pressure fighters.

Mayweather: Ortiz is bigger than Pacquiao, much stronger I'm sure. I don't know [for sure] because I haven't been in there with him yet but stronger. We'll have to see what he has on May 5th.

BoxingScene.com: Thoughts on the ending of the Ortiz fight.

Mayweather: We stuck to the game plan. It was a brilliant game plan. You have to ask yourself - how did we get put in that position? We got put in that position because one guy was trying to cheat. A guy finally admitted that he tried to break my nose with a head butt. Like I said before, the sport is tainted when you have athletes taking different things and doing different things to win.

We didn't go there to talk to the ref, we came there to give you guys what you came there to see - a fight. I didn't even know the guy kissed me because I was so much in the zone. All I remember is the referee saying 'time in.' Time in doesn't mean to hug and kiss, it means it's time to fight. And he wasn't talking to the ref. The hook put him that way and the right hand just sent him on home.
